Prizes

The Society for the History of Children and Youth offers two prizes:

The Grace Abbott Prize is awarded for the best book published in English on the history of children, childhood, or youth (broadly construed) published in calendar year 2007 or 2008. The award of a plaque and a check for $500 US will be presented at the SHCY Conference, July 10-12, 2008 at the University of California, Berkeley.

Nominations are invited from publishers, writers (self-nominations), and scholars. Current members of the SHCY award committee, the executive committee, and officers of the society are ineligible. Nominations must be postmarked by Feb. 15, 2009. Send a copy of the book for consideration to each of the book award committee members at the following addresses:

The award of a plaque and a check for $250US will be presented at the SHCY Biennial Conference, July 10-12, 2009, at University of California, Berkeley.

Nominations are invited from journals, writers (self-nominations), and scholars. All are eligible for the award, except for current members of the award committee and the executive committee and officers of the SHCY. Nominations must be postmarked by Feb. 15, 2009.
